KNITTED BAG CATS

Click For Crochet Abbreviations List

Such a stylish accessory will be an original addition.
The work is crocheted, but you can also knit similarly with knitting.
Materials:
black yarn “YarnArt” (ELITE) acrylic, 100 gr / 300 m. (Consumption a little more than a skein)
gray yarn of two different shades,
white yarn of two different shades
Attention! The whole yarn should be about the same thickness, otherwise it will not turn out a smooth cloth, deformation and distortions will appear!
Additional materials:
8 black beads for the eyes, a large white button, black lining fabric, plastic to strengthen the bottom.

Description (master class):
1. Draw a diagram. On a tetrad sheet in a cell draw cats.
1 cell = 1 loop (1СБН = single crochet column).

2. We glue the overall scheme of the two halves (the right side is a mirror image of the left).
For convenience, you can color the cats.
Attention! The diagram shows both the front and back rows!

3. Beginning of knitting: knitting
with a black thread a chain of 145 air loops (144 loops of the warp + 1 lifting loop).
It was a “zero” series.
ATTENTION! Zero row PUSH, so to speak, “worker”, it is not displayed on the diagram. Turn.
Further, the entire canvas is knitted with SBN (single crochet).
The background color is black. All cats are different colors.
Particularly decorative looks different yarn in texture, for example, you can use a boucle thread for one of the cats.
Do not forget that the yarn should be the same thickness. It is important!
1st row (front): 36 black scles, 14 yellow scs, 22 dark gray 22 scs, 22 white scs, light gray 14 14 scs, 36 black scs.
(A total of 144 sc, this number will remain unchanged). Turn.
The 2nd row (purl) and the subsequent rows are knitted according to the drawing-scheme.
Cloth connected intarsia.

Intarsia is a technique of knitting a colored canvas, in which BOTH, when changing color, is crossed on the seamy side of the product, rather than being pulled, as in the case of jacquard technique.
The “old” thread is temporarily not involved in the work, but the work is continued with the “new” thread. Most intarsia knit on the needles, but this technique is subject to the hook.
Jacquard technique in this case is inconvenient, since it will be very large broach.
Each color is a separate tangle. The work will simultaneously use 6 balls (black - yellow - dark gray - white - light gray - black). In the upper part of the picture, where the heads of the cats are separated, black balls will be added.

Useful advice: so that the threads from different tangles are not confused with each other, you can put each ball in a large plastic cup or container.
Glasses (containers, cardboard boxes, etc.) should be lined up in one row and stapled together.
This design does not take very much space, it can be placed against the wall, and the nerves are spent much less!

The cats embroidered faces, sewn eyes, beads (on bright cats beads are silvery, on dark beads are black), embroidered stripes on the backs. Cats are trimmed along the contour with stalked seam.

4. The sides of the finished fabric are stitched. The seam will be located in the middle of the back side.
The bag can be made flat, then the bottom is stitched, tying a number of RLS, grabbing the back and front walls simultaneously with a hook.

If you need a bulk bag, knit bottom.
ATTENTION! In order not to be mistaken in size, knit the bottom only after the base of the bag is sewn on the sides.

Variant of a rectangular bottom: we knit with a black thread a chain of air loops (VP) with a length slightly shorter than the front side of the bag. The smaller the VP chain, the more square the bottom will end up. The closer the length of the VP chain to the bag's length, the more elongated (rectangular) the bottom will be.
Next, knitted cloth sc.
Do not forget about 1 lifting loop at the beginning of each row.
Attach the knitted fabric to the "tube" of the bag (i.e., to the stitched base) to determine when to finish knitting.

Oval bottom variant: mentally divide the front wall of the bag (ie the length of the bag) into 4 parts, type a chain of air loops long and then knit the sc in a circle, making gains along the edges according to the diagram.
Trying on the associated oval to the bag, you determine the required size of the bottom. Additions continue to be done similarly.
The bottom is sewn to the bag.
You can tack on the bottom of the bag and tie up the Sc, grabbing the bottom and the bottom of the bag with a hook at the same time. This gives additional stiffness to the joint, the bag holds its shape better.

Attention! You can reinforce the bottom of the bag with a piece of plastic (a folder for papers is perfect).

5. We tie the top of the bag in “stride step” (SCs are knitted on the front side in the opposite direction, ie, from left to right).
Option: we tie the usual sc 1 time, then on top of another 1 time.

6. "Cap" (upper bar jumper) knit the required size of the sc. Can be knit separately and sew.
You can immediately knit from the back wall.
The "lid" is easy to arrange symmetrically, focusing on the seam on the back wall.
The "lid" is tied up with a "stride step" or twice sc. Option: you can sew a zipper instead of a “lid”.

7. The knit knits separately according to the
“Cone” scheme : insert the hook into the loop of the previous row, draw out the loop, make a cap, pull the loop again and make a loop, pull the loop again and make a cap, pull the loop again, stretch the loop through all the loops, once again throw the thread on the hook and stretch the thread through 1 loop on the hook.
The handle turns out at the same time both elastic, and rather strong. "Cones" immediately attract attention.
In addition, the convex surface of the handle prevents sliding.
Sew the handle to the bag.

8. We sew a lining. You can provide pockets for mobile phone and small things.
We sew the lining to the bag. Do not forget to pre-reinforce the bottom with plastic!

9. Attach a button closure or other fastener.
Cats are specially sheathed along the contour so that the “protruding hairs” are visible (when crossing the threads of two colors, such tails can remain).
Or simply sheathe the contour with a thicker thread that will make the silhouette smooth.
